Dr. Erastus Bankole Akingbola, OON, FCIB - President / Chairman
Dr. Akingbola was elected as the President/Chairman of Council in May 3, 2008. Prior to his election, he was the 1st Vice President and Chairman of Board of Fellows. He had served the Council in various capacities.

Dr Akingbola, who was elected Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London in 1988 is Fellow of both the Nigeria Institute of Management (1996) and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (1998). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and Institute of Operations Research.

He started his professional banking career on a modest note as a Credit Officer in Union Bank of Nigeria Plc in 1971, and worked up the ladder to become Senior Manager with NAL Merchant Bank Limited (1977-1984), Controller of Operations, First City Merchant Bank Limited (1987-1989), Group Managing Director/ Chief Executive, Intercontinental Bank PLC (1989-till date).

A consummate banker, Dr Akingbola who holds an MBA in General Management had his leadership training at the prestigious Harvard Business School, United States of America. He is a recipient of the national honour of the Member of the order of the Niger (MON) and Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) with several honorary doctorate degrees.

Mr. Joseph Laoye Jaiyeola, FCIB - 1st Vice President
Mr. Jaiyeola, a Fellow both of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, is the 1st Vice President. A committed member of the Institute, Jaiyeola has at various times been Secretary and 2nd Vice Chairman , Lagos Branch ; Member, Board of Studies, Treasurers Dealership Certificate, Council Member since 2004 and Member , Finance and General Purpose Committee. He was elected the 2nd Vice President in May 2006 and was Chairman Education Committee.

An Economics graduate and a holder of Masters Degree in Banking and Finance, Jaiyeola started his career in banking when he joined the Central Bank of Nigeria as a Clerk in 1979. He left the Apex Bank as an Assistant Manager/Dealer in 1995 to join Kakawa Discount House as a Senior Dealer.

He steadily moved up the ladder as Head, Treasury (1998-2000) and Head, Investment Services Group in 2000 until 2005 when he was appointed the Managing Director/Chief Executive.

Mr. Francis Atuche, FCIB - 2nd Vice President
Mr. Atuche, a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria CITN, is the 2nd Vice President. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN. He has been a Member of the Council and a facilitator at Institute's various programmes since 2006 before his election.

A holder of Masters Degree in Banking & Finance from University of Ibadan, Atuche started his career in banking as a Credit Officer in 1985 when he joined United Bank for Africa. He later left for Chartered Bank as the Branch Manager in 1989 and thereafter as Group Head Operations Management and Branch Coordinator, Ecobank Nigeria Plc..He became the founding Managing Director/CEO of Ivy Building Society Limited in 1992 and later Finacorp Building Society in 1993.

He was appointed the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Platinum Bank Limited in 2003 and Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of Platinum Habib Bank Plc in 2006 following the merger between Platinum Bank Limited and Habib Nigeria Bank Limited.

Mr. Joseph Olusegun Ajibola, FCIB - National Treasurer
Mr Ajibola, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria is the National Treasurer. Until his election, he served the Institute in various capacities, which included Assistant Secretary, Kano Branch, Training and Consultancy Committee Chairman , 1st Vice Chairman and Chairman, Lagos Branch. He was the Chairman, Investment Sub-Committee of Finance & General Purpose Committee, an elected Member of Council, Council Ad-hoc Committee on AGM (CACA) , Ad-hoc Committee on Restructuring of CIBN Press and CIBN Bookshop .

He holds a Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of Ife, Oyo state. He also holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Lagos.

He started his banking career in 1989 at the Nigerian-American Merchant Bank as a Deputy Officer and rose to Deputy Manager, Credit & Marketing before moving to Abacus Merchant Bank as Manager in 1992. He became the Assistant Vice President and Head of Credit in 1996 at First City Merchant Bank. Thereafter he became a Deputy General Manager in First Bank of Nigeria in 1999. He joined Intercontinental Bank plc in 2004 as General Manager and was an Executive Director in 2006, a position he currently holds.

Dr. Uju M.Ogubunka, Ph.D, FCIB - Chief Executive / Registrar
Dr. 'Uju M. Ogubunka, a Chartered Banker, was in full time banking practice for twenty-three years before venturing into consulting, research, training, mediation and public speaking in 1998 prior to his joining the Institute as Director, Consultancy, Training and Research in 1999. In 2006, he was appointment the Registrar/Chief Executive, The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.He holds a Ph.D in Banking and Finance from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and an Associate, Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. He is also a member of Body of Neutrals, Abuja Multi-Door Court House. He has authored, co-authored and edited many published papers and books including Elements of Privatization in Nigeria and Walking Ahead of Bank Distress. He has interest in reading and research, meditation and television sports.
