
Dr. Haruna Musa, Ph.D., FCIB, is a seasoned banking professional and financial services executive with over three decades of experience across Nigeria and Africa. He is recognised for his expertise in banking operations, corporate banking, strategic leadership, risk management and Islamic finance.
He is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Jaiz Bank Plc, Nigeria’s pioneer non-interest bank, a position he has held since November 2023. Prior to his appointment, he built an extensive career in banking, including over two decades with Guaranty Trust Bank and GTCO, where he held various senior management positions and gained broad experience across corporate and commercial banking, risk management and financial services.
Dr. Musa holds a Bachelor of Agriculture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and an MBA from Bayero University, Kano; and an MSc in Finance and Management from Cranfield University, United Kingdom. He also holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance from Universiti Utara Malaysia. His executive education includes programmes at leading institutions such as the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, among others.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Dr. Musa has demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of the banking profession and the development of Nigeria’s financial services sector. He currently serves as National Treasurer of CIBN and as a member of the Institute’s Governing Council. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 2026 Annual Banking and Finance Conference, reflecting his continued contribution to the Institute’s professional and strategic activities.
As Managing Director/CEO of Jaiz Bank, Dr. Musa continues to provide strategic leadership in the growth of non-interest banking, financial inclusion and ethical finance in Nigeria. His leadership combines extensive banking experience with a strong understanding of Islamic finance and a commitment to innovation, professionalism and sustainable growth.
As National Treasurer of CIBN, Dr. Musa brings his wealth of experience, strategic perspective and commitment to professional excellence to the Institute’s leadership, contributing to its mandate of promoting ethical standards, professionalism and continuous development within Nigeria’s banking and financial services industry.

Dr. Mojisola Asieru-Sweet, FCIB, is a distinguished banking professional and strategic leader with over 29 years of experience in the banking industry. Her extensive career spans International Operations, Transaction Banking and Services, Investment Banking, Operations, Sales, Branch Management, Corporate Banking, Energy, Manufacturing/FMCG, Telecommunications, Financial Institutions, Emerging Corporates, Wealth Management and Multinationals.
She is currently a General Manager at Sterling Bank Plc, where she has held senior leadership responsibilities, including General Manager/Divisional Head, Corporate Client Coverage and Sales. Prior to this, she served as Group Head, International Operations and Group Head, Transaction and Services, where she contributed to the implementation of the Bank’s revised local money transfer platform, Equiswift.
Dr. Asieru-Sweet was also a pivotal stakeholder in the integration of Equitorial Trust Bank and Sterling Bank, having served as Treasurer at the former and subsequently as a member of Sterling Bank’s interim management team, where she played a key role in the integration of people, processes and systems.
Within CIBN, she has served on and chaired several committees, contributing to the Institute’s professional development, membership services, conferences and other strategic initiatives. She currently serves as 1st Vice President of CIBN and is the Chairman of the Logistics Sub-Committee of the 2026 Annual Banking and Finance Conference.
A passionate advocate for ethical leadership, mentorship and the advancement of women in banking, Dr. Asieru-Sweet has also provided leadership in initiatives focused on mentoring and developing younger female banking professionals.
She has attended executive leadership and professional development programmes at Lagos Business School, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and INSEAD, among others. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB) and holds additional professional affiliations and international banking credentials.

Dr. Peter Ashade, FCIB, is a distinguished corporate executive with over three and a half decades of experience in the financial services sector, including more than two decades in Chief Executive Officer roles. He is renowned for his expertise in execution, business transformation, organisational strategy and leadership.
He is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of United Capital Group, a leading investment banking and financial services group listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX). Under his leadership, United Capital has continued to strengthen its position within Africa’s financial services landscape, with a growing Pan-African presence.
Prior to joining United Capital Group, Dr. Ashade served as the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Prudential Plc from 2006 to 2018, where he led the company through a significant transformation that culminated in its listing on the Nigerian Exchange, making it the only investor services company listed on the Exchange to date.
Dr. Ashade holds a BSc in Banking and Finance from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), and an MSc in Finance from the University of Lagos. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Capital Market Registrars and the Association of Enterprise Risk Management. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, and an alumnus of Lagos Business School and the Global CEO Programme.
A Life Member and Fellow of CIBN, Dr. Ashade has contributed significantly to the development of the Institute over the years. His service includes membership of the Governing Council, leadership of the Membership Development and Services Committee, and several leadership positions within the CIBN Lagos State Branch, including Chairman from 2019 to 2023. During his tenure, the branch was recognised as the Institute’s Best Branch for four consecutive years.
In 2026, Dr. Ashade assumed office as the 2nd Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, following his previous service as National Treasurer. In his current role, he brings his extensive corporate leadership experience, strategic insight and deep understanding of the financial services industry to the leadership of the Institute.

The Office Holders of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) form the core leadership team of the Governing Council, responsible for providing strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and upholding the Institute’s mandate under the CIBN Act No. 5 of 2007.
Comprising the President/Chairman of Council, First Vice President, Second Vice President, and National Treasurer, the Office Holders work closely with the Registrar/Chief Executive to drive the implementation of Council decisions, oversee the Institute’s affairs, and represent CIBN at the highest levels of engagement within and beyond the banking industry.
